Simon’s Last Shot | Social Media Campaign
Simon, a 5-year-old boy, and his mother, Alina Gorniak, visited theCHIVE HQ to raise awareness about Sanfilippo Syndrome, a degenerative disorder caused by a missing enzyme, leading to toxic material buildup in the brain. Simon’s condition causes memory loss and will eventually result in the loss of motor skills, seizures, dementia, and death. Alina shared how Simon’s development has plateaued, but he works hard to maintain his skills, using focus and basketball to exercise his brain.
TheCHIVE and Chive Charities decided to help Simon’s family by raising funds for his immediate health needs, including an Augmentative Communication Device, an adaptive stroller, rock climbing for flexibility and endurance, and yoga classes. They also provided $10,000 for equine therapy, swim lessons, and yoga therapy. The community rallied together and achieved the $15,000 goal, offering Simon more precious time with his family.
The campaign became one of the most important efforts by theCHIVE and Chive Charities, with Simon’s life hanging in the balance. The community’s support and donations were greatly appreciated, and the family expressed gratitude for the love and care shown.

For Simon’s campaign, I was responsible for conceptualizing and producing high-quality graphic design elements tailored to the campaign’s objectives.

The visual elements effectively conveyed Simon’s story, connecting people on an emotional level and motivating them to come together to make a difference in his life.
